From Scratch
‘From Scratch’ is a food packaging and experiential design project aiming to help Gen Z act on the interest of multicultural cooking. For many young people, cooking is a disheartening experience, comparing their dishes to the ones in beautifully produced cooking videos and cook books filled with personal stories and little helpful information. The road to learning is cut short when it seems so difficult to start.

‘From Scratch’ creates a different road, starting with food packaging, which features fundamental information, using recipes as secondary. Helping Gen Z find alternatives to usual ingredients easily.
Being a 3rd culture, Eastern European person, I created this project to encourage my peers, and myself to come out of our comfort zones and try ingredients from other cultures. Ones that you may not find in a regular supermarket. ‘From Scratch’ takes inspiration from the cooking and art of 4 regions: Eastern Europe, East Asia, South America, and West Africa. Making the process of finding new flavours easier, answering common questions, and bringing attention to the cultures that inspired the chosen ingredients.
