The Roald Dahl Collection
The Roald Dahl Collection is a reimagining of three famous Roald Dahl books. Combining illustration & tactility to create a two - fold design. Taking inspiration from traditional fabric covers and elevating the design by using the utility of the dust cover to add an extra layer of detail.

Process
This project originated from a love and Nostalgia of Roald Dahl books; it was created for the primary target market of women aged 18 - 30 who have a love of Roald Dahl but feel unable to display them due to the youthful cover designs. I was inspired to create a collection that pays homage to traditional book design, creating covers that would look at home next to Jane Austen, while still feeling modern in their production.

I themed the collection around food and nature. Food is a part of what made Roald Dahl stories so magical and memorable, the use of nature takes inspiration from the filigree often seen on historic book designs. I kept the colour pallet bright, and duo toned to allow the books to still feel like children's books. I found that Dust covers often hide beautiful book designs or plain covers, I wondered if the dust covers could be used to elevate the design instead, adding illustrative detail to the vinyl designs on the covers. Creating a unique, layered effect while allowing for the satisfying experience of the textured cover.
